Ottawa Police Peer Support

Peer support is connecting with another person who has lived experience of their own and can relate to what you are going through–this could be a divorce, a sick child, a difficult call, the list goes on. Social support is the proven foundation for success for people to find their path to health and wellness. However, Peer Support is not a replacement for professional medical or clinical care.
The Ottawa Police Peer Support program has 37 Peer Supporters including sworn members, civilian members, retirees and family members. They have experience with:
- Grief/Loss/Suicide
- Significant Incident/SIU Investigations
- PSA/Organizational Issues
- Elder Care
- Illness/Cancer
- Retirement
- Military Service
- New Recruits
- Addictions
- Mental Health
- and many other areas
For more information and to request being connected with a peer supporter, please email wellness@ottawapolice.ca and indicate what you are looking for in a peer supporter.
